Clare Hoban
Clare is co-CEO of Reviewed & Cleared and a specialist editorial content lawyer who advises across television, film, audio and print.
Having started her career in publishing, Clare then spent many years as a senior TV content lawyer at the BBC. For the past decade, she has supported broadcasters, streaming platforms, TV producers, podcast creators and publishers.
Clare has an in-depth understanding of how content is made and enjoys long-standing relationships with broadcasters, production staff and insurers. She prides herself on her calm, practical and creative approach, and her experience spans every genre from drama, factual entertainment and comedy to undercover investigations, current affairs and news reporting.
She held a judicial role for several years, giving her a unique insight into the criminal process and contempt risk, and is often recommended directly by broadcasters to support those working on challenging and sensitive content, particularly in relation to true crime or the emergency services. She regularly advises on high-profile documentaries and factual dramas.
Clare has worked on hundreds of hours of live records and fast-turnaround output for entertainment and current affairs, and has advised in multiple newsrooms. She was awarded the BBC Outstanding Services to News and Current Affairs award for her work in this area.
Behind the scenes, Clare regularly provides discreet, practical crisis management services to some of the UK's biggest production companies: any content producer can suddenly find itself in a difficult situation, and industry leaders trust Clare to guide them through the storm. She is also an accredited mediator.
Clare delivers bespoke, user-friendly training to production companies, publishers and broadcaster compliance teams, on all genres of content.
